Before seeking treatment for ADD, it is important that you have a good diagnostic evaluation. There are many conditions that can appear similar to ADD but are actually quite distinct. Because Dr. Tsukahara has specialized in working with adults with ADD for a number of years, she is often asked to meet with patients to determine whether they have ADD.
A diagnosis of ADD requires a very thorough interview in which you must be prepared to provide a great deal of information, including your medical, psychological, academic, and vocational history as well as similar information regarding members of your family.
Depending on your future plans (e.g., college or a career change), a diagnostic evaluation may also include psychological and neuropsychological testing.
