Growing a Grateful Heart

Many of you will be increasingly busy, not only this week, but throughout the remainder of the year as the rush and hurry of the winter holidays press upon us. Keeping that in mind, this tip is short and sweet.

The American tradition of setting aside a day to focus on being thankful is surely a tradition that needs to be guarded and nurtured. If we could each spend even a tiny bit of our time developing an “attitude of gratitude”, we would all benefit.

Beginning right now (in two minutes or less), list 5 things for which you are thankful. Then each day, at the beginning or end of the day, add 5 more (different) things for which you are thankful.

Encourage your children or other family members to do the same. Then take turns reading your lists aloud around the Thanksgiving table. By taking a moment or two to do this often, you and your family will discover that you are growing grateful hearts!
